Fitzhugh Lee typed letter signed, Richmond, Virginia, June 17, 1904, addressed to Edward Bok of Ladies’ Home Journal. One page, 5.5 x 7.5 inches, responding to an inquiry regarding an appropriate salute for a young girl to the American flag, stating she should stand at “Attention” and kiss her right hand. Signed in full at conclusion by Fitzhugh Lee. Presented in a mat measuring 11" x 12.5".

Fitzhugh Lee (November 19, 1835 – April 28, 1905) was an American Confederate cavalry general in the American Civil War, the 40th Governor of Virginia, diplomat, and United States Army general in the Spanish–American War. He was the son of Sydney Smith Lee, a captain in the Confederate States Navy, and the nephew of Robert E. Lee.
