Autograph Letter Signed “Blücher,” one page both sides on “General Armeé Command” stationery, Headquarters at Alençon, August 28, 1815, in German. Measures 8.5" x 12". Accompanied by a fine 5.25" x 7" engraved portrait of Blücher.
A rare and historically significant letter written only weeks after Napoleon’s defeat at Waterloo, as Blücher’s Prussian army advanced through France during the post-war occupation. Writing from Alençon, Blücher communicates with the King of Prussia’s Chief of Staff regarding troop deployments and coordination with General von Clausewitz, addressing the disposition of forces and administrative matters within the occupied territories. Boldly signed “v. Blücher” at the conclusion.
