Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790), American statesman, scientist and philosopher. Franklins many interests included economics, religion, philosophy and science. His curiosity in the field of electricity led to his famous kite experiment. Among his inventions are bifocals, the lightning rod and the Franklin stove.. 15x11.5 document signed "B. Franklin" as president of the Supreme executive council of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, 1 page, vellum, February 15, 1787. A land grant to a Jonathan Adams in consideration of services rendered as a "dragoon in the late army of the United States". The triangular lot of land being allocated was in 'the seventh district of donation" described as running form a maple tree to a white oak to a beech tree and back to the maple. Matted in Red Velvet with printed black and white portrait in gilt wooden frame for an overall size is 29x19.5. Fragile paper seal partially intact, Fold Marks, several pinpoint holes, darkening at verticle folds, and the usual wrinkling. Franklin's signature and paraph is quite clear
