Alberto Vargas (1896-1982), the Peruvian-born illustrator whose idealized pin-up figures defined American glamour for decades through his work in Esquire and Playboy, signed this full-page color reproduction of one of his most iconic images. The page, titled "La Chica de Vargas" and numbered 76, depicts a blonde figure in a flowing sheer cape, arms outstretched. Vargas has signed boldly in black ink at lower left: "To Dr. Martin / Best Wishes / Alberto Vargas."
Vargas's work for Playboy in the 1960s and 1970s brought him a new generation of admirers, and signed examples remain consistently popular with pin-up art and illustration collectors. A personal inscription to a named recipient adds warmth and provenance to an already desirable piece.
Signed magazine page, black ink, approximately 10 x 13 inches; page 76 from an unidentified Spanish-language publication (IMG_186.jpg). Minor toning at edges; image bright and clean; overall very good condition. Estimate: $400-$700.
