Fairman, Draper, Underwood & Co., Philadelphia, 1824. Original 12.5" x 15.5" intaglio-engraved specimen sheet featuring over sixty finely detailed vignettes, counters, portraits, and end panels by one of the premier American bank note firms of the 1820s. Near the top appears an advertising bank note with an ornamental “5” at center, flanked by portraits of Franklin and Washington, and bearing the inscription: “This Specimen of Work to prevent FORGERIES is respectfully submitted to the Banking Institutions of the United States.” With expected fold lines, scattered creasing, and minor edge wear; very small area of paper loss to the vignette near the top.
