A Jefferson Davis cut signature. Originally from a free frank and about 3.25" x 1". Signed "Jefferson Davis/ USS" from his days in the Senate. 

Jefferson Davis (June 3, 1808 – December 6, 1889) was an American politician who served as the first and only president of the Confederate States from 1861 to 1865. He represented Mississippi in the United States Senate and the House of Representatives as a member of the Democratic Party before the American Civil War. He had previously served as the United States Secretary of War from 1853 to 1857 under President Franklin Pierce.
