Rare original hand-painted animation cell depicting "Happy" used in the production of Walt Disney's first animated feature film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs released in 1937. The cell image is mounted over a blue background with silver stars. 'Happy' is in black lettering under the image but is just barely visible when looking at with a strong light. Approximate cell dimensions are 6.75"h x 4.5"w visible to the mat.
In the 1970's Disney made available for sale a limited number of original cells of which this is one. Although the original label to indicate that this painting on celluloid was used in the filming and that only a very limited number have been placed on the market is lost. Pencil marking 36C was written on the original backing.
The condition of the cell is excellent with no cracking. The cell sheet has the usual waviness associated with age.
