Boston, interesting content re-sending troops to Canada.

Reads in part, In Pursuance of His Majesty’s Pleasure Signified for us by His Grace the Duke of Newcastle in his letter...directing us to meet and measures for the Security and defence of Nova Scotia and in Consequence thereof to retain such a Number of the Troops lately raised for the Intended Expedition against Canada as we shou'd judge proper and we resolv'd on Sending a Body of seven Auxiliary Companies of Seventy-Five Men each for Annapolis Royal for the said Service desire Thirty days -after Sight of this Our Second of Exchange...to pay Thomas HutchinsonEsgr. or Order the Sum of Four Hundred Pounds Sterling...in 0ld Tenorfor retaining the said Men..

Signed on verso by THOMAS HUTCHINSON (1711-80), the noted American Colonial administrator. He accepted legality of Stamp Act, and hence had his house destroyed by a mob. Hutchinson later served as Royal Governor of Massachusetts (1771-74), upholding British authority until Being exiled to England (1774). He writes, "Please to pay the Contents to Mr. Andrew Pringle or Order. Tho. Hutchinson." An important French & Indian War document, signed by two Colonial Governors. Document shows moderate wear, with fold repairs on verso, general tears and soiling.
