A fine uncommon ALS Written and signed in English by Lafayette explaining his arrangements for this American a Mr. Maclare to meet the king. The letter was written shortly after the Revolution of 1830 in the end of July to overthrow of Charles X, mostly championed by Lafayette. Because of his support and the French people revolted and a new King Louis Philippe I. Framed and matted with a print of the General, 16.5"h. 20.5"w.

The letter written on September 19, 1830, Lafayette says in part "

My dear Sir,

I have been expecting your kind letter and much disappointed to find you are home Mr. Rivas tells me he he cannot ? with ? induce Will check with introduce you to the king so that the honor derives upon me with respect to you in other American friends, which he believes is cordials? as you’ve been settled up excepting that the king and family receive company every Sunday after dinner, not ladies but gentlemen. They are thinking of some arrangements suitable to the evening as Half pass Seven we may go together to the Palace Royal an lady here because above eight or a quarter pass eight the King goes to the which I ? promise to talk to you ?  this evening as 7:30 we may go together to the parlor Royal I propose a lady have a bout 8:15 the king goes to ??.
