Interesting letter to Edison from a laboratory employee named Burns, on 1/7/1926 to Edison explaining about their dealer in phonographs and records and that the dealers will not give them their lists of purchasers. He goes in go say that the Dealers say that they “don’t have the time to do it regularly”To give us their lists.

Edison can be seen not to be happy with this information and writes on the bottom of the letter “Burns= I want to warn you the travelers servicing 1 or 2 days does not convince a dealer 4 days is is least for a large dealer must get prospects and sell a lot of records Edison” This shows just how tough a businessman Edison could be and was tough in his employees as well. The paper is fragile , with some of the edges missing, only affecting a couple words, but all of Edison’s writing and signature are intact with no issues.

Thomas Alva Edison (February 11, 1847 – October 18, 1931) was an American inventor and businessman who has been described as America's greatest inventor. He developed many devices in fields such as electric power generation, mass communication, sound recording, and motion pictures. These inventions, which include the phonograph, the motion picture camera, and early versions of the electric light bulb, have had a widespread impact on the modern industrialized world. He was one of the first inventors to apply the principles of organized science and teamwork to the process of invention, working with many researchers and employees. He established the first industrial research laboratory.
