William Stryker Gummere ( 1852–1933), Gummere was captain of the Princeton football team that met Rutgers in 1869 the first intercollegiate football game played in America. He later on became was Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of New Jersey.
This is a fantastic and rare letter on his stationary as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of New Jersey, dated November 9th,1929 where heis talking about an article on the first intercollegiate football game played in America.
