MATISSE HENRI: (1869-1954) French Artist. Rare T.L.S., `H. Matisse´, one page, 4to, Nice, 22nd November 1949, to Monsieur Duchemin, in French. Matisse underlines in red pencil few words of his letter and adds a small amendment in blue ink, and states in part `I have not received any point of view at all from the tribunal regarding the Fabiani affair, nor any further information..´ further saying `I also inform you that I have not received the postcards parcel expected from Nomis House, and I would appreciate if you can help with this.´ Matisse further asks few more questions to his correspondent related to paintings, editors and two of his works. Folded, VG £800-1000 Fabiani was an art dealer, who was under famous gallerist Ambroise Vollard´s protection, and who was convicted at the end of WWII for having sold numerous paintings to the German.
