To (Sharpless Dodson) Green, Your letters have been received- but am as you know a very old man, and have been also this winter a very sick one- and is difficult among the numerous things that come into our lives these days to find the time to write- However I am enclosing a short greeting to your boys- In know so little about business in any form that i am afraid they chose a very poor example in choosing me- Sincerely, Thomas Moran" Thomas Moran (February 12, 1837 – August 25, 1926) was an American painter and print maker of the Hudson River School in New York whose work often featured the Rocky Mountains. During the late 1860s, he was appointed the chief illustrator for the magazine, a position that helped him launch his career as one of the premier painters of the American landscape, in particular, the American West.
