Benjamin Harrison fills out and signs check to pay himself 15.00. Partly Printed Check filled out and signed: "Benj Harrison", 7¾x2¾. Indianapolis, 1880 July 27. Drawn on the Fletcher & Sharpes Bank, payable to "self" for 15.00.The back is endorsed possibly by his wife Catherine. Harrison was elected Senator from Indiana in November. Garfield, elected President that November, had offered him a Cabinet post. Harrison declined, preferring to serve in the U.S. Senate (1881-1887). Harrison was defeated for reelection to his Senate seat in 1886 but was elected President in 1888.Also with later copy photo.
