With this revolutionary pamphlet, Angela Grimke, the daughter of a slave-owner from Charleston, immediately established herself, along with Maria Child and Lucretia Mott, as one of the most outspoken and controversial female abolitionists. This pamphlet, was not simply popular, but had to be reprinted because it was deemed so inflammatory that Southern postmasters were ordered to burn it. In addition, Grimke was officially banned from her hometown of Charleston. This is a rare and important pamphlet of the time.
