This is an ALS from General Winfield Scott in 3rd Person(“Old Fuss and Feathers, a national hero) sent from Washington Jan. 16, 1836 to “The President of the United States” recommending General Swift for a Civil Engineer position in the Navy Dept. 1 ½ pp 10 8”, integral address leaf. Fold breaks repaired with archival tape, paper seal hole not affecting text.. Jackson has boldly endorsed it “Referred to the Secretary of Navy. A.J.”
