American author (1923-1999) best known for his classic absurdist novel Catch-22. Two hand written letter from this acclaimed author.
One dated September 9, 1986 to a Marilyn Berlingo, about her daughter having to deal with the medical condition his fight with the Illness Guillain–Barré syndrome, The same he had and how fortunate he was to have the proper care and help to get him through it. A second letter dated Oct. 20, 1986 about how he was lucky and the recovery can be long and how he was fortunate to have such great support. His illness and recovery are recounted at great length in the autobiographical No Laughing Matter, which contains alternating chapters by Heller and his good friend Speed Vogel
