John Quincy Adams (6th US President, 1825 - 1829), then Secretary of State, signed letter dated 22 March 1821 addressed to Jeremiah Sprague, Deputy Marshall of Boston, MA regarding the appointment of Col. Samuel D. Harris as Marshal of the United States and Massachusetts. The letter contains the broken seal.Letter is signed " I am, with much Respect, your obedient and very humble servant, John Quincy Adams". Other than folds and the original tearing of the wax seal, paper browned slightly due to age, the document is in very good condition
