Temperance agitator (1846–1911) known for smashing saloons with a hatchet. Vintage ALS on her incredible stationary, showing the hatchet that she was known for and also about prohibition. Letter reads in part" Feb. 4. 1906, Dear Mr. Pratt, I will certainly... to be one of your associate will be glad to hear from ya Carry A. Nation.
Best remembered for her attacks on liquor establishments in Kansas and other states during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Nation called her prohibitionist supporters ‘Home Defenders’—a moniker she adopts for herself in this sentiment to show her solidarity.
