TLS as president elect on WARREN G. HARDING MARION, OHI0 stationary, dated January 10, 1921 to a Mrs. Harriet Taylor Upton. Mrs Upton was a very important American political activist and author. Upton is best remembered as a leading Ohio state and national figure in the struggle for women's right to vote and as the first woman to become a vice chairman of the Republican National Committee. Letter reads in part:"Only the exceeding pressure of things demanding my attention can be offered as an excuse for my failure to reply more promptly to your wire-letter of January fourth. I h ave talked with Mr. Hays since you thus addressed me and am writing to say that I want to work in accordance with his plans and I shall be very greatly interested in making the arrangements necessary to your participation in working out his organization problems. This will, I am sure, convey to you my purpose without me being more explicit, Indeed, I could not be specific about the particular post, even though it were necessary for me to do so. Very Sincerely Warren G Harding"
