Very Rare 2 volumes from Franklin Delano Roosevelt's library. The Pilot A Tale of the Sea by James Fenimore Copper was printed for Brothers Schumann 1829. We can find no record of this rare 2 volume set ever coming to auction. Both volumes are not only signed but bear his small bookplate.

Franklin D. Roosevelt’s copy of James Fenimore Copper’s 19th-century classic. A very rare Two Volumes with Chapters 1 and 2 in the 1st Volume and 3 and 4 in the 2nd volume. Each volume has a small bookplate indicating his library and a catalog number. In Volume 1 it has his full signature, and “Hyde Park,”. In Volume 2 it has his bookplate and full signature as well as a note in his hand noting “The very rare edition”. In fair condition with both volumes boards loose and in Volume 1 front page signed by Roosevelt is also detached, can all be restored. Both volumes are pocket editions to the size of 3.5" x 4.25".
