Blackfoot chief (1872–1934) best known for the durable though still-controversial claim that he served as one of the models for sculptor James Earle Fraser in creating the composite Native American portrait on the ‘Buffalo’ nickel. Wonderful pearl-finish 6.5 x 4.75 photo of Two Guns White Calf seated with a small child at the base of a teepee, signed on the reverse in black ink with his traditional three-character pictogram of two rifles and a horned calf. Inscribed below in another hand stating that the photo was presented by Two Guns White Calf and was taken at Glacier Park on July 28, 1929. In very good condition, with irregular toning and scattered soiling to reverse.
