EDISON, THOMAS ALVA. Photograph signed ("Thos A Edison") of Edison on the porch at his Fort Myers, Florida winter estate. Florida, Fort Myers: F.W. Hunt, Photographs [sic] (with his stamp), March 1922; Edison at age 75, according to ink notations on the verso. 4 1/2 x 6 1/2 inches (11.5 x 16.5 cm).

Together with two photographs of Edison, unsigned, 1930, with the winner of a scholarship (unsigned); a promotional card for phonographs featuring Edison; and an unrelated image of Churchill, Roosevelt, and Stalin taken at the Yalta conference. Small creases to the corner of the first item, but in overall rather good condition, with a strong dark signature; the two small photographs of Edison were torn across and carefully repaired. The image of the Yalta Conference appears to have been taken by someone in attendance and doesn't entirely conform to any other images that we can locate.

Thomas Edison (February 11, 1847 – October 18, 1931) was an American inventor and businessman. He developed many devices in fields such as electric power generation, mass communication, sound recording, and motion pictures. These inventions, which include the phonograph, the motion picture camera, and early versions of the electric light bulb, have had a widespread impact on the modern industrialized world. He was one of the first inventors to apply the principles of organized science and teamwork to the process of invention, working with many researchers and employees. He established the first industrial research laboratory.
