Description: Reynolds Sir Joshua 1723 - 1792 Sir Joshua Reynolds signed payment receipt for paintings
JOSHUA REYNOLDS English artist, founding President of the Royal Academy. Autograph Document signed, 1 Page approx 3 1/8 by 7 7/8 inches oblong. A receipt for payment for paintings which reads as follows:
"Received August 18th 1786 from Woodcock the sum of two hundred and sixty one pounds ten shillings for Pictures done for the late Earl of Tenet, in full of all demand. £261-10 J Reynolds."
On back does have a 4 pence Tax stamp impressed in paper.
Written in the later part of Reynold's life; J.O. Woodward writes in the Encyclopedia Britannica that " ... There were few distinguished families or individuals who did not sit to him." A scarce autograph, particularly with an artistic association.
