Framed partially printed document signed. Document 7.5" x 2". Boasting a beautiful example of Robert E. Lee's signature as "R E Lee", along with his annotations. The document states (with the annotations found within the quotes) of: "I Certify, that the 'service' charged in the within account, 'has' been received 'war' necessary for, and 'has' been or will be applied for the objects within stated, to the Improvement of the HARBOR OF ST. LOUIS.
The piece is presented matted, framed, and glazed with a stunning raised 2.5" round raised relief plaque of Lee. Matted in a pale red mat in a slightly nicked rubbed gilt frame to a size of 17" x 8".
Frame backing is tattered but still maintains the original Certificate of Authenticity for this piece from Charles Hamilton Autographs, Inc.
