This is an interesting ALS to Robert E. Lee's son George Washington Custis Lee (September 16, 1832 – February 18, 1913), also known as Custis Lee, was the eldest son of Robert E. Lee and Mary Anna Custis Lee. His grandfather—George Washington Custis—was the step-grandson and adopted son of George Washington. He served as a Confederate general in the American Civil War, primarily as an aide-de-camp to President Jefferson Davis, and succeeded his father as president of Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia. The letter is mostly about business dealings and is reference to a check for $500 and Rail Road bonds that he needed for money "to add to his diminishing capital". Letter is in fine condition and framed with engraving of Lee. The frame does have a window in back so you can see both sides, although it is signed in front.
