Reuven Rubin is considered one of the most renowned and famous Israeli artists worldwide with works in collections of leading museums such as MoMA (New York), Museé d'art Moderne (Paris), Jewish Museum (New York) and others. Rubin was 30 years old when he worked on this group of woodcuts, The Godseekers . The atmosphere throughout the various images is holy, dramatic and optimistic. The Godseekers seek God and pray to him. Rubin succeeded to evoke the spirit of life in Israel in those early days. He used the classical technique of woodcut to express his devotion to the history of art along with the new and modern spirit. The 10 woodcuts were published by the Bineth Gallery of Fine Art, Jerusalem, in 1966, when Rubin decided to print 65 copies from the original woodblocks, engraved by him back in 1923. The portfolio includes a preface in English and Hebrew written by Dr. Haim Gamzo, who was the director of the Tel Aviv Museum of Art.
