An ALS written in French and signed by Pierre-Jean de Béranger (1780–1857), the celebrated French poet, songwriter, and satirist. He was widely known for his witty and political songs that resonated with the French populace during the 19th century. Béranger's work often reflected themes of liberty, equality, and criticism of monarchy and social injustices, making him a popular figure among republicans and reformists.

Translated:

Sir,

I must write tomorrow a few lines to Félix Arlot in Bourbon. Would you have any grounds for hope that I could convey to him? His position, which he holds on an interim basis, could become a great and fortunate opportunity for him. He has other supporters besides you, Sir, and naturally, you would appear no less great than all of them if they saw you acting in agreement with one of the figures in his family for his favorable situation.

Please forgive me for insisting, Sir, and with my apologies, accept the homage of my highest regards.

Your very humble servant,
Beranger

Passy, March 9, 1856.
