A rare and historically significant pair of 19th-century photographic portraits featuring Albert Edward, later King Edward VII, and Alexandra of Denmark, dated circa 1872. These elegant images showcase the royal couple during their early years, prior to Edward VII’s ascension to the throne in 1901. The portrait of Albert Edward captures him standing confidently in formal attire, holding a hat, with his signature "Albert Edward" below the photograph. The portrait of Alexandra of Denmark presents her in a refined Victorian gown, leaning against a decorative backdrop, accompanied by her signature "Alexandra." Both portraits feature annotated birth dates—"9th November 1841" for Albert Edward and "1st December 1844" for Alexandra—added by an unknown hand, along with the inscription "1872," referencing the approximate date of the photographs. These pieces are well-preserved, with sharp photographic detail and clear handwriting, offering a unique glimpse into British royal history and Victorian-era elegance. A fine addition for collectors and enthusiasts of historical artifacts.
