Pancho Villa (June 5, 1878 - July 20, 1923) was a Mexican revolutionary and guerrilla leader who fought against the regimes of both Porfirio Díaz and Victoriano Huerta and after 1914 engaged in civil war and banditry.

John J. Pershing (September 13, 1860 – July 15, 1948), nicknamed "Black Jack", was a senior American United States Army officer. With a storied career, from the last of the Sioux uprisings to San Juan Hill and Pancho Villa, Pershing’s life changed when his wife and three of his four children perished in a Presidio of San Francisco fire. The only General in American history to be promoted within his lifetime to “General of the Armies,” Pershing had sought to continue World War I and occupy Germany, to permanently destroy its militarism.
