Annie Besant (1847-1933); was a prominent British socialist, theosophist, women's rights activist, writer and orator and supporter of Irish and Indian self-rule.
A.L.S. 2pp., 8vo, London, 1895 on her printed stationary with her emblem ” There is no religion higher than the truth” with her Mrs. Besant invites her correspondent. who His somewhat interested in things theosophical," to a meeting later in the week, and concl udes: '" shall be giving a lecture at the Blavatsky Lodge on Dec. 5th, my last night in England."
