Interesting and rare Pardon signed by Madison as President dated November 8th, 1816. Document has been professionally restored and and repaired, where there was previous tape mending the folds. This pardon is for a John Curtis who was found guilty of smuggling foreign goods into the United States. For making restitution and considerations and promises, and for good causes, Madison discharges & fully releases Curtis form the sentence.The document is trimmed on bottom.
