Postal Savings Plan cards for the purchase of United States Defense Savings Bonds. One of the cards is signed by Jack Dempsey in blue ink. The other card is signed by both Gene Autry and Ray Bolger,

The front of the cards shows a patriotic design with eagles, naval ships, and text indicating the denominations and purpose. The back provides details about the stamp denominations and how they work within the savings program.

Jack Dempsey (June 24, 1895 – May 31, 1983), was an American professional boxer who competed from 1914 to 1927, and reigned as the world heavyweight champion from 1919 to 1926. A cultural icon of the 1920s, Dempsey's aggressive fighting style and exceptional punching power made him one of the most popular boxers in history. Many of his fights set financial and attendance records, including the first million-dollar gate. He pioneered the live broadcast of sporting events in general, and boxing matches in particular.

Ray Bolger (January 10, 1904 – January 15, 1987) was an American actor, dancer, singer, vaudevillian, and stage performer who started his movie career in the silent-film era. He is best known for his roles in The Wizard of Oz (1939) as the Scarecrow 

Gene Autry (September 29, 1907 – October 2, 1998), was an American actor, musician, singer, composer, rodeo performer, and baseball team owner, who largely gained fame by singing in a crooning style on radio, in films, and on television for more than three decades, beginning in the early 1930s.
