Original AMQS 7"x3" from the famous poem Excelsior, which was created by Longfellow in 1841. Does have toning where it once was framed, but writing is dark.Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (February 27, 1807 – March 24, 1882) was an American poet and educator whose works include "Paul Revere's Ride", The Song of Hiawatha, and Evangeline. Longfellow was one of the five Fireside Poets from New England. Accompanied with old engraving portrait.The Stanza reads
THE SHADES of night were falling fast,
A youth, who bore, 'mid snow and ice
A banner with the strange device,
Excelsior!
