This letter datelined En Route, September 26, 1932, and was written to a good friend of Roosevelt's Judge Garvin while Roosevelt was traveling en route on his 9000-mile cross-country campaign train trip. He talks to his friend about being fellow candidates just 12 years before and about the hectic pace of the campaign trip. He thanks him for his congratulations on his praise for his acceptance speech as the Democratic nominee. Signed at the conclusion by Franklin Roosevelt in fountain pen.
Edwin Louis Garvin (October 25, 1877 – October 10, 1960) was a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
