Fine 2-page handwritten letter by Eleanor Roosevelt on White House Stationary to a family friend about his birthday and on the day he asked about she has a long-standing engagement for and Sunday work...asking him about coming to the cottage for his Birthday and about a gift. She has signed the letter with her initials ER.
Eleanor Roosevelt (October 11, 1884 – November 7, 1962) was an American political figure, diplomat, and activist. She was the first lady of the United States from 1933 to 1945, during her husband Franklin D. Roosevelt's four terms as president, making her the longest-serving first lady of the United States. Through her travels, public engagement, and advocacy, she largely redefined the role of first lady.
