A signed card from Eddie Rickenbacker dated 1960. It is signed "Eddie Rickenbacker 1960" and is 3" x 5". Eddie Rickenbacker was an American fighter ace in World War I and a Medal of Honor recipient. With 26 aerial victories, he was the United States' most successful fighter ace in the war and is considered to have received the most awards for valor by an American during the war. He was also a race car driver and automotive designer, a government consultant in military matters and a pioneer in air transportation, particularly as the long-time head of Eastern Air Lines.
A signed card from Herbert B Thatcher that is 3" x 5" and is signed "Herbert Thatcher Lieut general U.S.A.F." A Lieutenant General Herbert Bishop Thatcher is commander of the Air Defense Command with headquarters at Ent Air Force Base, Colo. The command administers, trains and equips all U.S. Air Force aerospace defense resources to defend North America, except Alaska. ADC also plans emergency use of Air National Guard resources earmarked for air defense. These combined forces are organized by ADC and made available to the commander in chief of the North American Air Defense Command.
An ALS from Thomas Power dated December 24th, 1964. He signs at the bottom of the letter "Thomas Power Gen USAF "Ret" on a 10 1/4" x 7" sheet. General Thomas Sarsfield Power was commander in chief of the Strategic Air Command and an active military flier for more than 30 years.
A signed card from Jimmy Doolittle that is 6" x 4" and signed "J.H. Doolittle" after the salutation. James Harold Doolittle was an American military general and aviation pioneer. He made early coast-to-coast flights, won many flying races, and helped develop instrument flying.
A TLS from the Headquarters 801st Air Division Office of the Commander on August 21st 1963. It is an 8.5" x 7" signed "R.H. Strauss". Robert Hollis Strauss early in his career was detailed as air officer to the late General George E. Patton, then in command of the 1st Armored Corps. In August 1942, he returned to Hunter Field to activate and train the 312th Bombardment Group, which he commanded for approximately three years during its training period and subsequent operations in World War II in the Australia - New Guinea - Philippine area. While the 312th Bombardment Group was in combat, he completed 125 combat missions in the New Guinea, Leyte and Luzon campaigns. Strauss was assigned as commander of MacDill Air Force Base, Fla, the 384th Bombardment Wing at Little Rock Air Force Base, Ark, the 806th Air Division at Chennault Air Force Base, Lake Charles, La., 17th Air Division, Whiteman Air Force Base, Mo., and Lockbourne's 801st Air Division. during his at different points during his military career.
