American journalist (1851-1902) who co-founded Dow Jones & Company, created the Wall Street Journal, and conceived the influential Dow Jones Industrial Average. DS, signed “Charles H. Dow,” one page, 14 x 17, April 1, 1891. A first mortgage bond for the Amity Canal, Reservoir and Improvement Company, signed on the reverse by Dow as trustee. The document retains 16 of its 20 coupons in the lower margin. In fine condition.
