Patented 1877 and manufactured by J & E Stevens Co. Attractive example with decent patina, slight paint loss, fine condition overall. This bank was patented on November 6, 1877 & was designed by James H. Bowen of Philadelphia, Pa. The bank was made by the J. & E. Stevens Toy Co. of Cromwell, Connecticut. The bank measures 10 3/16 inches long by 6 3/4 inches tall by 2 3/4 inches across the widest part of the base. The weight of the bank is 3 pounds & 2.5 ounces. This popular & appealing mechanical bank was produced by the J. & E. Stevens Co. The example we are offering in this listing is guaranteed to be 100% original & complete & in working condition. There are no breaks to the iron, no chips, no cracks, no repairs, & no touch-ups to the paint. The bank even has the guaranteed original coin trap on the bottom which is usually replaced or missing. The paint shows minor wear from use. But, the major majority of the original paint is still present.
