A nice vintage Quarter-length 7"x10" photograph by Pirie Mac Donald, "Photographer-Of-Men," NY, gelatin Signed Photo of Booth Tarkington. Does have some silvering, but nice image. Darkly signed in black ink on photographer's mount beneath image. Some silvering; minor wrinkle at left edge. Presented within window frame to overall 10"x13". Accompanied by inscribed AQS on parchment-type paper, three lines from his book Monsieur Beaucaire (1900). "'And live men are jus' - names!' said M. Beaucaire." Darkly penned and signed. Inscribed to Judge Walter Beals, possibly the same judge who in December 1946 presided at the first Subsequent Nuremberg Trials during which Nazi doctors were accused of human experimentation. Some wrinkling; else VG/Fine.

Tarkinton was an American novelist and dramatist best known for his novels The Magnificent Ambersons and Alice Adams. He is, with William Faulkner and John Updike, one of only three novelists to win the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction more than once.
