Arthur Sullivan Autographed Musical Quotation Signed. Single sheet, 7" x 9", Leeds, October 5, 1895, Bradford, October 12, 1895. Three bars of music from the choral epilogue of the cantata, "The Golden Legend." English composer (1842-1900) best known for his operatic collaborations with W. S. Gilbert, including H.M.S. Pinafore, The Pirates of Penzance, and The Mikado.
On Verso the great Adelina Patti signed quotation "A beautiful voice is the gift of God". Patti was a Italian-French 19th-century opera singer. earning huge fees at the height of her career in the music capitals of Europe and America.Patti remains one of the most famous sopranos in history, owing to the purity and beauty of her lyrical voice and the unmatched quality of her bel canto technique.
Sullivan premiered the cantata on October 16, 1886 at the Leeds Music Festival. The work was incredibly popular, and has been regarded as the best piece of Sullivan's serious music compositions.
