Scarce 1863 commission for a Union Army "Assistant Surgeon," signed by Abraham Lincoln and Edwin M. Stanton Civil War-dated partly-printed vellum DS as president, one page, 15.75 x 19.5, June 2nd, 1863. President Lincoln appoints Charles C. Lee as “ Assistant Surgeon" Signed at the conclusion by President Abraham Lincoln and countersigned by Secretary of War Edwin M. Stanton. The blue War Department seal affixed to the upper left remains intact and a fine bold signature of Lincoln.. In very good to fine condition. Lincoln assistant Surgeon .. from the Charles Lee Family… relative signer of the Declaration and governor of Virginia.
