Signed Abraham Lincoln American Civil War military commission, on velum, appointing Robert Langdon Eastman (American 1836-1865), "Second Lieutenant in the Sixth Regiment of Infantry" "the six day of May eighteen hundred and Sixty one", and "GIVEN under my hand at the City of Washington this Ninth day of September in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and Sixty one", Signed Abraham Lincoln and countersigned by Secretary of War, Simeon Cameron, framed. Some of the writing is as little light and portions of the signature, also toning and some wrinkles throughout, otherwise fine condition, not examined outside of frame. Note: Captain Robert Langdon Eastman was a native of Maryland and then went to Wetspoint for education and graduated as the 35th class. He rose in ranks for his gallant and meritorious services at Battle of Gaines mill, Va. Battle of Malvern Hill Va. He was mustered out and died due to sickness on November 7th, 1865 at the age of 29.
